Bhanuka Mahabamunuge
Bhanuka is an Associate Attorney with McCarter & English, LLP. He is a commercial litigator who focuses on business and real estate disputes in both Connecticut and New York. Bhanuka was born in Sri Lanka but grew up in Waterbury, Connecticut after relocating to the United States with his family as a young child. He earned his undergraduate degree from Central Connecticut State University, where he was also a member of the Division 1 Track and Field team. Upon graduating from Central Connecticut State, Bhanuka attended the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. After completing law school at Hofstra, Bhanuka started his legal career working in government as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for New York’s City Administration for Children’s Services.
In 2024, Bhanuka was voted a rising star as a commercial litigator in Connecticut. Aside from his private practice with McCarter & English, Bhanuka is very involved in the Fairfield County community. Bhanuka has represented several pro bono clients ranging from immigration to children in child protection matters. Bhanuka also spends time volunteering for Lawyers in Libraries, where he helps provide legal guidance to residents of the Stamford, Connecticut area with legal issues they are dealing with. As the Vice President of SABAC, Bhanuka looks forward to keeping the momentum of SABAC going, continuing to grow the membership, and getting more involved in the Connecticut community.
